Temporal Engine
Device believed capable of time manipulation
Overview
The Temporal Engine is the oldest known artifact in our collection and one of the most dangerous. This complex mechanical device appears designed to manipulate temporal fields, potentially allowing for time travel or temporal stasis. It remains partially active despite its incredible age.
Discovery & Origin
The Engine was recovered in 2017 from within a temporal anomaly in the Cassiopeia sector. The recovery team reported experiencing severe time dilation, with the six-hour mission lasting two weeks from their perspective. The Engine was found at the center of the anomaly, slowly rotating in suspended animation.
Scientific Analysis
Dr. Chen's analysis indicates the Engine operates on principles of quantum temporal mechanics that we barely understand. When activated (under strictly controlled conditions), it demonstrably slows the passage of time in a localized field. The device appears to be damaged, operating at perhaps 1% of its original capacity, yet still producing measurable temporal effects.
