Dark Monolith

Mysterious obsidian structure of unknown purpose

Overview

The Dark Monolith is the oldest confirmed artifact in existence, predating the formation of several nearby star systems. This towering obsidian-like structure absorbs all forms of electromagnetic radiation, making it difficult to study. Its purpose remains completely unknown.

Discovery & Origin

The Monolith was discovered in 2016 floating in intergalactic space, positioned equidistant from three galaxy clusters. It maintains this position through unknown means, neither drifting nor orbiting. Recovery required specialized equipment as it cannot be scanned by normal sensors.

Scientific Analysis

Despite appearing to be simple carved stone, the Monolith's surface is harder than any known material and shows absolutely no signs of aging or degradation. It occasionally emits gravitational pulses of unknown origin. Some researchers theorize it may be a marker or beacon, while others believe it could be a sealed container for something we cannot yet detect.
